We can configure which applications need to be started when a user logs in to the system. This can be done using msconfig tool. Some applications like Yahoo messenger, Google talk, Windows live messenger, Office communicator when installed will have default configuration to start automatically when users log in. Using the below steps we can stop these applications starting automatically.
- Click Start and select Run
- Type msconfig and press Enter
- Select Startup tab
- Now you can see a list of application names. Among these the ones having the check box selected are configured to start when a user logs in. Deselect the check boxes for the applications which you do not want to be started automatically after login.
- Click on Apply and OK buttons
- Close the windows
