If you are using Windows Server 2008 you might have noticed that you can’t see ‘Enable Offline files‘ option anywhere. Reason for this is that Server 2008 edition does not support offline files feature by default. We need to install Desktop Experience for this. Offline files is something that is used when one tries to access network shares frequently online and offline. Servers running Windows 2008 are not supposed to be used this way. Hence not providing this feature by default looks perfectly justified.
