We can disable Recent items list which shows the list of recently opened files. It can be done in the following way in Windows 7/Vista.
- Right click on Start button in the task bar
- Click Properties
- In the ‘Start menu‘ tab as shown in the picture above, uncheck ‘Store and display a list of recently opened files‘
- Click Apply and OK
Clear Recent Items list
On Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer, you can clear the recently opened documents list by doing the following.
- Click on Start button
- Right click on “Recent items“
- Select ‘Clear Recent Items List‘
If you don’t see ‘Recent items’ in start menu then it mean that tracking of recently opened files is not enabled.
