Today when I launched Internet explorer and opened a site, IE had repeatedly warned me with below message.
I was opening a news portal and I knew there would be nothing fishy on that portal so I clicked on ‘Allow‘. But IE bugged me with the same warning again and again even after selecting ‘Do not show me the warning for this program again‘. I realized that some thing has changed in the setting and then grabbed my attention was the below on the status bar of IE.
When I moved the mouse cursor over the protected mode text it showed a pop-up saying “Double click to change security settings”. I did that and then it showed the security settings window.
I unchecked “Enable Protected mode” and restarted IE. Things were fine after that. Please note that protected mode is a security feature and it is not safe to disable it especially if you are logged in with administrator privileges.

ok..so if its not a good idea to uncheck that box..then shat else are u suppose to do..this is the 2nd time this has happened to me…ive tried uninstalling..reinstalling..everything…after a while..it went away…now it is back!!!!!
I suggest to keep protected mode on and when you are shown the permission window, if the application is trustable then click allow and also select the check button 'Do not show me the warning for this program again'. This way you can minimize the number of times you are bombarded with that warning window.
In the above snapshot shown in the post, it's adobe flash program which can be trusted… so I can safely tell IE not to ask me again if a website wants to open that program..
It does not work. When I check, allow, not allow, not to remind me again, OR closing the warning from internet explorer security- I keep getting the SAME warning, repeatedly! — This happens EVERY time I open any web or e-mail.
The prior advice sucks……and the one before that can't write a decent sentence…..IS THERE A VIRUS HERE…OR NO?
ya.. there is a virus called internet explorer !
I never had this problem until I installed IE 9
why they can't get anything right before unleashing it on the public is beyond me !!!
Can not find anybody who can tell me how to get rid of this festoon.
Got the same problem, no viruses says AVG and Microsoft Security Scanner, but this thing shouldn’t be popping up, you can’t be sure it’s Adobe Flash Player. Since someone nabbed by bank card info recently and drained my account, I’m a lot more cautious. The info was nabbed on a site called Fine Art America where I bought a few Christmas presents. So, I don’t know yet what’s going on.
Same problem. Began just after running PC Clean Maestro. It has messed up other things on my computer as well. Has anyone else with this problem also run PC Clean Maestro?
The problem continues with this annoying pop-up. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve installed/uninstalled Flashplayer (and now Adobe Air, which is now required with flashplayer. I can’t believe Adobe hasn’t come up with a fix for this. They don’t even address it on their website.
Has anyone found a fix?
I have had this same problem over and over again. I finally did what the first person suggested and unclicked “Protective Mode”. It is the only way I could get this annoying, annoying thing to stop. Don’t have that problem with my PC, only on my laptop, which we rarely use except when traveling. I also have Norton Security and it warns me always of any virus or attack. Hope my laptop stays safe, but the only solution that worked.
The only solution by now is reset your IE in Internet options->advanced Tab-> Reset
