If you are getting error when you run gpedit.msc from Run window then most probably you are using an OS edition which does not support group policy. In Windows XP, only XP professional supports group policy configuration. Windows XP Home edition does not support group policy and hence we’ll see an error like below when we try to launch gpedit.msc
